iPhone:

Setting Up Parental Controls with Screen Time
 

Apple’s Screen Time feature allows you to monitor and restrict device usage, including content and privacy restrictions.

1. Enable Screen Time:

• Open the Settings app.

• Tap Screen Time.

• Tap Turn On Screen Time, then tap Continue.

• Select This is My Child’s iPhone/iPad.

2. Set Content & Privacy Restrictions:

• In Screen Time, tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.

• Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions by toggling the switch.

• Tap Content Restrictions to set limits on:

• Web Content: Choose Limit Adult Websites or specify allowed websites.

• Explicit Content: Restrict music, podcasts, and news containing explicit material.

• Movies and TV Shows: Set age-appropriate ratings.

3. Restrict App Store Purchases:

• Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.

• Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases.

• Set Installing Apps, Deleting Apps, and In-app Purchases to Don’t Allow.

Android:

1. Install Google Family Link:

• Download and install the Google Family Link app from the Google Play Store on your device.

2. Set Up Parental Controls on the Child’s Device:

• Open Settings on the child’s device.

• Tap Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.

• Tap Parental controls, then tap Get started.

• Select Child or teen, then tap Next.

• Follow the on-screen instructions to link the child’s device to your Family Link account.

3. Manage Content Restrictions:

• Through the Family Link app on your device, you can:

• Approve or block apps your child wants to download from the Google Play Store.

• Set screen time limits and bedtimes.

• Lock their device remotely.

• Monitor app activity and set content filters for Google Chrome and Search.
