Currently, we have incentives available for single family projects for Southwest Gas territory, for select cities the Central Coast, and for HPWH projects in the SoCal Gas territory. Additional incentives will be released in early 2023. Please note that only $50m has been approved at this time, and that will be split up between categories (MF, SF, ). As soon as we know how it will be split, along with the status of the $95m, we will announce.
How many new incentive dollars will be offered in each IOU territory?
We are currently working with the CPUC to understand the terms of this new funding. Once we have come to an agreement, we will announce the new funding guidelines to our participating contractors. We are projecting that the incentives will not be allocated per IOU territory but will be available statewide.
Will there be a reservation system for the new projects when the new incentives are released?
Are jobs that didn’t the deadline on May 13th going to be funded with the new funding?
We are currently working with the CPUC to understand the terms of this new funding. It is highly unlikely we will be able to fund projects that were submitted after the May 13th deadline. If we fund these projects, we will not hesitate to let you know. In the meantime, please check our California Energy Smart Homes to see if you qualify for additional incentives for your projects that were submitted after the deadline.
Will there be any new program requirements?
We are currently working with the CPUC to understand the terms of this new funding, but we expect the rules may be more straightforward this time around, specifically around which customers qualify. However, we do expect many of the key rules to remain in place: HP must be replacing a non-HP system, jobs must be permitted and limited to 2 units per household. Once we have come to an agreement, we will announce the new program requirements to our participating contractors.
What changes will you make to the program to ensure that incentives will not run out as quickly as last time?
We are considering the following options: another reservation system, reduced incentives, more consistent notification about budget status, and a 90-day limit between reservation and submissions to ensure that only real jobs are reserved for funds.
What other changes is the program considering?
We are considering a series of other changes to improve your program experience, such as a reduced paperwork requirement, a public facing qualified product list lookup tool, and automated notifications about claim statuses.
What will be the new incentive amounts for HP HVAC and HPWH?
We are currently assessing the of incentives that should be offered to ensure will last. It would be great to hear from you regarding what amounts we should offer that would meet the needs of your customers. We are currently looking at about $1,000/unit.
